Although diagnosed with schizophrenia, David Haller has been hearing voices since childhood. Confined to various psychiatric hospitals, David eventually encounters the charismatic Syd and learns a disturbing truth: The original diagnosis was incorrect, and the voices David has been hearing are quite real. Now possessed with paranormal abilities, David finds himself facing surreal and supernatural dangers in his search for answers about the voices he hears and the reason he hears them in the first place.
