A year ago, Echo's twin sister Zoe was murdered. Ever since, Echo has felt like she's been stuck in Zoe's shadow. She has tried to be strong, but she has no one supporting her: Her father is always at work. Her mother is always lost in an antidepressant cloud. When Echo goes back to school as a freshman, she can't figure out where she fits in. Everything changes one day though when Zoe's boyfriend surprises her. He's had Zoe's diary the entire time. Through Zoe's words on each page, Echo learns that she never knew her sister at all. In fact, no one knew Zoe very well. Zoe's secret life might have killed her. Echo must try to navigate all the ups and downs of high school while searching for the truth.
