After MIT graduate student Liam Cole creates a program that can track Near-Earth Objects, he learns to his horror that a large asteroid is on a trajectory to collide with the Earth in approximately six months. When an attempt to report this discovery results in the disappearance of Liam's mentor, he turns to his idol, the billionaire scientist Darius Tanz, for help. Liam, Darius and others who they meet along the way, including Pentagon press agent Grace Barrows and Deputy Secretary of Defense Harris Edwards, soon find themselves caught up in political intrigue both at home and around the world. While they attempt to stop the event and save life on the planet, they must keep their secret from loved ones and deal with leaders and terrorists who only seem to care about how they can use this event to their advantage.
