In our current time in an alternate universe, the Hawkins family decides to invest in an artificially intelligent robot called a Synth to help reduce some of the strain of their suburban life. Synths have been made to look and mostly act like humans. The Hawkins believed that they were investing in a brand new Synth, but soon learn to their horror that their robot companion, Mia, carries within her dangerous secrets that could change how Synths and humans interact forever. After all, what is a "human" if a machine has the ability to become more than its programmed responses to the point of feeling and thinking independently?
