For Touko Laaksonen, serving in World War II is anything but easy. Lucky to escape with his life, he returns to Helsinki and quickly discovers that his hometown has become a cesspool of hatred, with gay men being persecuted at an unprecedented rate. He decides to respond to the horror through art, with his depictions of the male figure and his Tom of Finland signature becoming the battle cry of a generation.
