Major crimes follows the Major Crimes Division of the Los Angeles Police Department and the head of the division, Captain Sharon Raydor. Initially she finds herself struggling to prove her worth to the officers under her command, but eventually she leads them to solve several high profile cases and wins them over. Along the way she takes in and houses Rusty Beck, a young former male prostitute who is the key witness in one of her most important cases.
