Talented young pediatric surgeon Shaun Murphy is hired at prestigious St. Bonaventure Hospital in San Jose. However, Shawn is an autistic savant and has trouble connecting to people. With the support of the hospital's president Aaron Glassman, Shaun must prove to the hospital board and his new coworkers that he can function normally enough to excel at his new position. Meanwhile, he is haunted by memories of past abuse and bullying by people who did not understand his disorder.
