A veteran Los Angeles Police Department homicide detective, Sam Hodiak, finds himself facing off against a pre-incarceration Charles Manson during the 1967 Summer of Love after a teenage girl goes missing. After partnering with a younger undercover narcotics detective, Brian Shafe, Hodiak begins to reveal horrible truths about Manson, his plans for the future and his "family." The two men also deal with other cases and criminals while trying to come to terms with the New Age cultural movement changes taking place in the world around them during what would be called the Age of Aquarius in the United States.
