After he becomes injured, Daniel Blake finds that he is unable to work anymore. In fact, due to his industries, he will have to go on state welfare. Suddenly, it seems as though his life is upside-down and he doesn't know which way to turn. While he is in this extremely delicate emotional state, Blake is joined by a single mom who is in a similar position. Highlighting the turmoil and passions of a modern society, this film's focus is character-driven.
