Initially a spinoff from the long-running series JAG, NCIS stands for "Naval Criminal Investigative Service" and follows a team of special agents who investigate criminal activity in and by Navy and Marine forces. Headed by the tough, no-nonsense Agent Gibbs, the team is a loyal and hardworking bunch who have dedicated their lives to putting bad guys behind bars. Some cases are more complicated than they appear, and some crimes and cover-ups strike close to home, but the agents of NCIS are committed to the job and each other, and they always get their man.
