Vikings tells the rise of Ragnar Lothbrok from a farmer to Earl, and eventually to King of the village of Kattegat. His sons, specifically Bjorn Ironside, are featured as learning the violent ways of their people from even the youngest age. During this time the family deals with death, divorce and very difficult times. Ragnar remarries the princess Aslaug, after a split with his warrior wife Lagertha. The Vikings plunder and kill with extreme violence and raid places like England and France. The show is filled with scenes depicting war, sacrifice and murder. But while Ragnar and his group are barbaric compared to today's standards, they are wonderfully developed characters who are able to bring you in from the first moment you watch.
