The quirky and loveable Jessica Day is blindsided when her boyfriend of many years breaks up with her. She goes on a search for a new apartment, and is reluctantly welcomed into the home of Nick, Winston and Schmidt. The trio of friends initially finds her eccentricities off putting, but they are soon won over by her upbeat attitude and relentlessly cheery outlook on life. As the show progresses, friendships deepen, romantic entanglements ensue and shenanigans become commonplace in apartment 4D. This fun loving group of friends struggle with love, careers and the disappointments of their early 30s.
