Jackie Peyton is a dedicated nurse stationed in the emergency room at a New York hospital. She goes above and beyond the call of duty, even going as far as to break the rules, to ensure quality care for her patients in an era of rapidly disintegrating health care. The problem is, her commitment takes a toll on her physical and mental health. Jackie struggles with an addiction to Vicodin and Adderall while she battles with the enormous amount of sticky red tape that stands between her efforts and the care that her patients deserve.
