Mr. Holmes is an imagination of the famous fictional detective Sherlock Holmes at the age of 93 in retirement in the countryside of Sussex. Holmes, whose mental powers are now decreased, keeps bees as a hobby and spends hours writing in journals. He reflects back on his days as a detective and, in flashback scenes, recalls a trip to Japan, visitors to his office on Baker street and other high points from his illustrious career.
