The world hates superheroes.
In an attempt to bring the general public around to liking superheroes again, Helen Parr, Elastigirl, becomes the face of their kind. She's chosen to take care of the big villains and present superheroes in a positive light.
With nothing better to do with his life any longer, Bob, formerly Mr. Incredible, becomes a stay-at-home dad where he watches Jack-Jack all day and tries to be there in a supportive fashion for all of his children and his wife.
When Jack-Jack starts to exhibit powers, Bob, Violet, Dash and Frozone must try to hide the secret from everyone. Bob must also learn how to handle raising a family while Helen's away to protect her from becoming overwhelmed by her duties to both her family and the world.
