There is nothing unusual about the FBI hiring outside professionals to assist on special cases. However, Dr. Daniel Pierce is a paranoid schizophrenic with an uncanny sense of observation that helps him solve crimes. While his social skills need a bit of work, his understanding of human behavior and his knowledge of the mind give him an extraordinary ability to read people. He is assisted by Special Agent Kate Moretti, former student and most trusting ally. Dr. Pierce's teaching assistant helps him sift through what's real and what's a schizophrenia-induced hallucination. Perception fights crime in Chicago with a distinct twist.
