Lieutenant Hammond was issued orders years ago. When the zombies first attacked, one survivor was bitten but didn't turn into a zombie. Hammond's orders are to retrieve that survivor and bring him back to California. The only problem is that the zombies have taken over the world, and Hammond's orders are not so simple anymore. Zombies attack at every turn, and it's never been more important to bring the survivor to California so scientists can develop a vaccine. Hammond can't know whether the scientists are alive or whether anyone can help them but he has to carry out his last mission.
