The Gallaghers give new meaning to dysfunctional families on television. They are down, but they are not out. Frank Gallagher, an alcoholic with questionable morals, is the patriarch, but he's of little to no use for his six children. Their mother took off a long time ago, leaving the oldest daughter Fiona to take on the responsibilities of keeping her younger siblings (and sometimes her father) in line. Next is Lip, who frequently tutors neighborhood girls in exchange for a little sexual gratification. Ian is coming to terms with his sexuality. Debbie is a budding thief. Carl, who has a little too much fun with fire, might turn out to be a sociopath. Toddler Liam is the only one not causing chaos.
