Mathias Gold is an ordinary American man whose life takes a surprising turn when he learns that he has inherited a house in Paris. He decides to go and live there, but he hadn't counted on the fact that he would be sharing the home with an elderly woman named Mathilde Girard. Mathias and Mathilde strike up an unconventional friendship while he adjusts to the differences in his life in France. Meanwhile, Mathilde's daughter Chloe proves especially intriguing company for Mathias. As their relationship begins to develop, Mathias finds himself exploring life in a way that he never has before.
