When Vincent, brilliant computer scientist and pioneer in Artificial intelligence, is tapped by the British government to help repair wounded soldiers at the height of a Cold War with China, he jumps at the opportunity. Soon he learns the program is less about reconstructive surgery and more about creating the ultimate weapon, he changes the deal, allowing him to use research to help his disabled daughter who suffers from a neurological defect. Searching for other brilliant minds in the field of computer science brings Ava into Vincent's program. Together they begin work on a sentient AI--a living machine. It doesn't take long for Ava to get curious about the dark corners in the secret facility, causing her to be eliminated. Her mind and likeness are then used to create a solder that Vincent is expected to turn into a weapon and hand over for the purposes of war. But over time, he learns that the Machine, is more than she appears on the surface.
