5.7During World War II, German forces launch an all-out attack on the city of Stalingrad. Their objective, to break through the heavily fortified city and conquer the rest of the Soviet Union. Russian soldier Captain Gromov is given a vital mission. He and his men are to hold a strategically important building at all costs to allow time for reinforcements to cross the Volga River. Gromov's men find that there is a group of civilians sheltering in the building that they also must protect. Soon the Germans launch one attack after another to take the building. Can Gromov and his men keep the enemy at bay and not only save the civilians, but the entire city of Stalingrad?
