Abbey is a woman who is in a relationship with an older, retired professor named Dermot. The two live in rural Ireland. Dermot is immature for his age and isn't concerned with being a real adult, so when Abbey reveals she is pregnant it causes some trouble in their relationship. Abbey leaves the Irish countryside to return home to Montreal where she confronts her troubled past, including a father with his own issues. Meanwhile, Dermot is left to his own issues back in rural Ireland, where he must figure out what is holding him back from wanting a family with Abbey.
