John Porter fails to remove a teenager during a mission to Iraq. The boy didn't seem to be a threat, but it cost the lives of two fellow soldiers. He resigned from the SAS following that mission. He is reactivated years later to rescue a journalist who has been kidnapped. During the mission, secrets are revealed and Section 20 is surprised by who was actually responsible for the deaths of those officers many years earlier. Porter goes on to another mission after the first. It's more difficult and dangerous than the one previously. Section 20 operatives hire Michael Stonebridge to help when Porter is captured by terrorists. Based on clues left by Porter before he was captured, Section 20 is able to piece together the terrorists movements as they try to rescue Porter. Rachel Dalton becomes the new head of Section 20 and work on finding nuclear triggers that fall into the wrong hands. They must travel throughout Africa to find those responsible for the theft and retrieve the triggers.
