Rizzoli & Isles follows the adventures of Detective Jane Rizzoli and Medical Examiner Dr. Maura Isles. They team up to solve homicides in the Boston area. Detective Rizzoli has a past which tends to come back to haunt her throughout the series. Serial killer Charles Hoyt, who nearly slit her throat years earlier, has escaped. His modus operandi shows up in many of their murder cases. Detective Rizzoli is constantly on the lookout for her nemesis, and there is an underlying theme of revenge on both sides.
