In this American situation comedy, two financially strapped women in their 20's living in the Williamsburg area of New York's Brooklyn borough decide to become roommates. After street-smart Max Black finds wealthy family refugee Caroline Channing a waitressing job at the local diner, the two conspire to start a cupcake business. Max comes from a working class family with little educational background, while Caroline has had every advantage afforded by wealth, including a top-notch business degree. A remnant of Caroline's former life includes the presence of her horse "Chestnut" who lives on the patio of their ground floor apartment. The two women become best friends and frequently socialize with another woman in the building, a Polish immigrant who runs a cleaning business, as well as with their work colleagues at the diner, including their diminutive boss Han Lee, a overly sexual Ukrainian cook Oleg, and the older cashier, Earl.
