Gossip Girl is based on a series of young adult fiction novels written Cecily von Zeigesar. The series follows a group of well-to-do teenagers in New York's upper east side. The story begins with Serena van der Woodsen, who is a master manipulator as as the series progresses, returning to town after she's kicked out of boarding school, creating a drama involving Blair and her boyfriend when her boyfriend, Nate Archibald, begins to take notice again of the returning Serena. Other characters such as Chuck Bass, a bad boy type, figure prominently into the story, which involves the turbulent and often drama filled lives of NY's prominent teenagers.
