House of Cards is a political drama involving corrupt politicians in the US Capital, Washington D.C. The show features a number of characters, including Francis Underwood a corrupt politician from South Carolina who helps to ensure the victory of President Garret Walker, with the agreement Walker will appoint Underwood to the position of Secretary of State. After the president backs out of their agreement, Underwood becomes furious and begins hatching a plan to disgrace his political rivals in order to obtain his cabinet position. He's joined and assisted by his wife, Claire, with whom he maintains an open and primarily politically interested relationship. as the series progresses Underwood and his wife use whatever means are necessary to further their ambitions, ranging from sexual seduction to blackmail and political espionage.
