Sleazy corporate lawyer Jeffrey Winger is busted by his law firm for faking his bachelor's degree. He is forced to attend Greendale Community College, a third-rate local school filled with the dregs of academia. On the first day of class, Jeff hurriedly puts together a makeshift Spanish study group so he can hit on pretty blonde Britta Perry. Initially dismissive of the study group, Jeff soon finds himself becoming attached to the other members. He forms close relationships with perfectionist Annie Edison, savant Abed Nadir, motherly Shirley Bennett and high school football hero Troy Barnes. Crotchety millionaire Pierce Hawthorne also joins the ragtag group. Together, the new friends become a substitute family and learn about life, largesse and paintball.
