Emmett Till could have easily been just another statistic, a murdered black boy whose face and story were lost to time. But Till's mother made sure that this never happened. From the very beginning of her personal, yet incredibly public, tragedy, Mrs. Till refused to accept the status quo. Making choices that were uncomfortable for the establishment, she shined a light on the horrors of racism, galvanizing an entire country to finally do something about it.
