It is an adaptation of a novel by an author and Christian missionary of the same name. It follows a group of American tourists who got welcomed into Morocco's High Atlas Mountains for a weekend retreat from their tour bus. Still, one member survives the accident that killed all others, forcing the region's Muslim community to decide his fate. The accident and its aftermath form the nucleus of exploring the connectedness between the Islamic religion, political issues, and modern-day life in Morocco. There are different aspects of a country torn between two cultures. A character offers an insight into Moroccan life over the last 100 years from his personal experience.
