A teenage girl from North Dublin in Ireland, Charlotte, is struggling with her life. Charlotte, or Char for short, lives with her mother Angela and her disabled grandmother. Angela suffers from depression and forgetfulness. She is negligent as a parent. Char is often forced to act like the adult. At school, Char also doesn't get to enjoy the positives of being a young student. Many of her female classmates mock and mistreat her. Then, one day, Char's mother disappears for days. When she returns, her demeanor changed, Char learns that her mother and grandmother have been hiding a horrible secret from her during her entire life...
