Amanda is a Korean immigrant raising her daughter on an isolated American farm. The mother-daughter pair share a close relationship, getting by raising chickens and selling honey. Amanda has a strange aversion to electronics and modern technology. As a result, the two have little contact with the outside world. However, their balance is upset when Amanda's daughter reveals a desire to pursue college. Then an Uncle arrives unexpectedly from Korea with the cremated ashes of Amanda's own "Umma," which means mother in Korean. The delivery triggers memories of childhood abuse, and the ghost of "Umma" haunts Amanda.
