The invasion of Parthia by two Roman legions brings disaster as the troops get bogged down by a major snowstorm in the Armenian mountains. This makes them vulnerable to attack by their enemies while they also face the severe ravages of bitter cold. In dire need of reinforcements, the Roman commander selects Noreno, a half-Roman, to flee across the dangerous terrain to get help. Noreno hates Rome, but he also knows this is a fight for his own life as well. He is an excellent runner and a fierce fighter, both skills he will need to save his fellow soldiers and himself.
