In 1894, a French-Jewish Captain named Alfred Dreyfus received a conviction for high treason. He was told that he had been caught spying for the Germans. His sword was broken into two pieces. He was then relocated to Devil's Island to serve a life sentence. In 1895, after becoming the French army's intelligence section chief, Colonel Georges Picquart makes a startling discovery about Dreyfus: He finds doctored documentation that proves Dreyfus was innocent and wrongfully convicted on the order of several members of the military. Picquart must decide whether to risk everything to try to reveal the truth to the public and save Dreyfus.
