Grace Waters is a pillar of her small town Virginia community, dealing with trust issues after her ex-husband marries his mistress, and her son moves to another town. On the advice of her friend Sarah, Grace begins to act a little more selfishly, and soon marries a mysterious and charismatic young man. But this dreamboat is not quite what he claims to be, and as he tries to destroy Grace's life, she defends herself and kills him. Now Grace is waiting for her trial and vindication in a small jail cell, with a lawyer who has never tried a case.
