Mom is an atypical comedy that focuses on the mother-daughter relationship that was largely dysfunctional as both mother and daughter were addicts. The plot picks up with both mother and daughter in recovery and attending daily meetings. The other principal characters are female members of the support group. A subplot involves the daughter's children; one of whom gets pregnant as a teenager mirroring the journey of her mother and grandmother. A love interest for the mother is a paralyzed man. Humor is created while building awareness of important issues.
