A beautiful, intelligent teacher, Laura Nielson, returns to the dating scene while in the middle of a bad breakup. She decides to go on a date with the father of a student. Andrew Earlham is a handsome, well-known surgeon who has recently become a widower. Most people believe him to be quite the catch. The date goes well and the two drink wine and chat, but Laura is confused about what happened afterward when she awakes the next morning. She believes that she might have been drugged and raped. When Laura decides to pursue legally the possibility that Andrew raped her, both of their lives are turned upside as the truth becomes mired by the lies they've each told in their pasts.
