This realistic and relatable comedy is about single mother Christy Plunkett who is stuck with her two teenage children as she tries to regain sobriety and a hold of her life in California's Napa Valley. To make matters worse, her own mother comes to stay with her. Christy's mother, Bonnie, is full of passive-aggressive actions and constant remarks about Christy's life, addictions, and parenting while also battling her own demons. If that weren't bad enough, Christy also has to deal with her ex-husband, Baxter, as he tries to remain in her life and to be a good father to their children.
