Michael Vaughn was always taught by his father, "Better to be an honest nobody than a crooked somebody". Michael doesn't fully believe this notion and goes around the country preaching he's a spirit medium. He believes there is no harm in giving people closure, even if it isn't true. Michael is kidnapped and decides to use his "ability" to his benefit. In order to save his deteriorating career, he decides to solve a high crime mystery by "contacting" the dead in hopes of becoming a famous television psychic medium.
