The artist Alberto Giacometti asks the American write James Lord to have his portrait done and chaos seemingly ensues. During the painstaking process of making the portrait the duo discovers and are reminded of the inherently complex relationship an artist has to his work and the instability of the artistic process and subsequent satisfaction. James Lord attempts to nail down his thoughts on the process throughout and is constantly sent on runarounds by Giacometti, building a unique friendship dynamic in the process of discovery.
