A fictional account, The Forgiven follows Archibishop Desmond Tutu as he visits Cape Town's Pollsmor Maximum Security Prison to meet with a prisoner (Piet Blomfeld, ex-South African Defence Force Officer) to assess his eligibility for amnesty. Archbishop Tutu seeks information about Blomfeld witnesses murders in Apartheid. Showing no regret, Blomfeld uses the meetings to insult Archbishop Tutu. The movie takes a twist, and it comes to light that others at Pollsmoor might not want information shared.
