Set in the American South in 1982, this comedy follows the Dickson family, whose tween daughter Aurelie wants to fit in with the other girls at her new school. It's the era of Farrah Fawcett's big, teased hair, and Aurelie wants to get her hair done in a permanent wave. Her mom takes her to the local beauty college. When the results don't quite live up to her expectations, Aurelie has an even tougher time fitting in.
