When Yasser, a Palestinian refugee working on infrastructure in Beirut, finds himself faced with an illegal drainpipe, he does his job and cuts it off the side of a building. A prejudiced Lebanese Christian, Tony George Hanna, and his pregnant wife were using the pipe. When Tony sees the damage, he destroys part of the new system. This action prompts Yasser to curse at him. Tony demands that Yasser apologize or he will sue Yasser's employer. In an attempt to smooth over everything, Yasser tries to take back the insult. Yet Tony, still unable to see past the man's Palestinian background, verbally attacks the Yasser's heritage. In a moment of rage, Yasser breaks two of Tony's ribs. The courtroom drama that unfolds and the attention it gains force Yasser and Tony, along with many others, to realize how easily verbal insults can quickly spiral out of control and cause horrible tragedy.
