In the early 1990s, a group of young activists belonging to ACT UP Paris seek to draw the French government's attention to the epidemic of people dying from the AIDS virus. Their goals include persuading pharmaceutical companies to invest research money into drugs that will help combat the virus. Sean, a radical member of the group who is terminally ill himself, creates a lasting impression on Nathan, who is new to ACT UP.
