After almost two decades since the release of Pokemon: The First Movie, audiences learn the story behind Ash and Pikachu's first introduction. On his tenth birthday, Ash Ketchum has reached the age deemed mature enough to become a Pokemon master. After receiving the special birthday gift of a Pikachu from Professor Oak, Ash and his new partner commence on an intriguing journey through the Kanto region. Although Pikachu is obviously opposed to his forced pairing with Ash, the two eventually form an unbreakable bond as they encounter various Pokemon battles during their search for the Legendary Pokemon Ho-Oh.
