Charles Hayward, a spy who uses his investigative skills as a private detective, receives a request from his former lover, Sophia, to help her find out the identity of the person who poisoned her grandfather. Sophia fears that waiting for Scotland Yard to complete its investigation will lead to a public reveal of all of the skeletons in her family's closet. After arriving at the country estate where three generations of Sophia's family has gathered, Charles learns that everyone there has secrets, including Sophia. As he struggles to find the murderer, he also struggles with his continued feelings for her.
