David Haller, who was diagnosed as a schizophrenic when he was a kid, finally feels like has some control over his life. His days aren't very exciting, but he has a routine that provides him with the structure he needs to maintain his mental health. He follows a strict schedule, takes his medication and hangs out with his only friend. When David meets a new patient, Syd, everything in his life changes. David find himself suddenly facing the possibility that he isn't as sick as he always believed but instead a mutant whose powers have been restrained his entire life.
