When Martin Channing gets caught in a massive, Ponzi scheme, his daughter Caroline is left completely broke and alone. With nowhere left to go, she ends up waitressing at this little greasy-spoon diner in the heart of the Bronx. This is where she meets the wise-cracking Max Black, a fellow waitress raised in poverty and hardened on the New York streets. While the two seem an unlikely pair, a hidden talent of Max's allows her to bake some of the most amazing cupcakes. Now, the girls must work to raise the start-up funds for this new cupcake business opportunity.
