Brooke Dalton hurries to catch a 1:30 train from New York City to Boston. Instead of making the last train of the night, she is robbed. Stranded and alone in the city with no one to turn to and no money, she meets Nick Vaughan. Together, they spend the night wandering around New York, quickly becoming good friends and confidants. They try with all of their might to get Brooke home with little luck.
