Boston police detective Jane Rizzoli works closely with medical examiner Maura Isles. Together, the women solve crimes, even though they are complete opposites. The friendship that has developed is completely surprising to them both. They investigate interesting and disturbing cases. One case has them investigating the murder of a wealthy couple who appear to be the victim of a serial killer nicknamed the Surgeon. He once tried to murder Jane but he's been serving a prison sentence. She must visit him to find out if a protege is killing using his patterns. In another case, they believe the Boston Strangler might be at work again.
